The European hotel industry is poised for significant expansion in 2024, with 326 new hotels set to open, contributing a total of 45,000 rooms. This growth, reported by Lodging Econometrics (LE), will offer even more options for business travellers.

LE’s recent figures reveal that the first quarter of 2024 saw the opening of 45 hotels in Europe, with projections indicating an additional 281 properties opening during the rest of the year.

The UK leads the way in new hotel developments with 321 projects, ahead of Germany (180 hotels), France (130), Portugal (120), and Turkey (116). These top five countries account for 48% of all planned new rooms in Europe.

Among cities, London is the frontrunner with 80 projects in the pipeline, followed by Istanbul with 51 hotels, and Lisbon with 37 projects.

Looking ahead, 2025 is expected to continue this trend, with an estimated launch of 367 new properties and nearly 53,000 rooms.
