BA recently announced it was updating its loyalty programme, rebranding the British Airways Executive Club to simply “The British Airways Club”, and introducing changes to how members earn Tier Points. The announcement was met with significant negativity from BA customers.
Since the initial announcement, the airline has made some further changes. Chief Commercial Officer, Colm Lacy, commented: “Our members have a deep emotional connection with our loyalty scheme and their status means a lot to them – we’re confident the changes we’ve made fairly reward members for their travel with us.”
The key changes include:
- Earning by sector – This has been reintroduced. Members can earn Bronze status by taking 25 flights with a BA code, and Silver status by taking 50 flights.
- More generous Bonus Tier Point offer – The new offer increases the additional bonus Tier Points members can earn to between 75 and 550 per flight, depending on the cabin they travel in.
British Airways has created a new series of videos for customers to help clarify the changes, with scenarios to show how each level of status can be achieved. The videos can be found here, and more information about the loyalty scheme updates can be found on the BA website.
